The position is based in Irvine California. Broadcom PMU integrates complex IPs and functions that includes USB, battery chargers, fuel gauge, high frequency (>6MHz) switching converters and LDOs, audio amplifiers class D, G and H; ADC converter, I2C interface, HDMI, etc. As an Application Engineer, you will develop the technical expertise for cellular system power management. You will be involving in the new product development of state-of-the-art cell phone and wireless handset power management unit integrated circuits. You will develop the expertise and understanding of complex cellular phone power management system requirements supported by state of the art mixed signal PMU design. For example, you will develop the expertise in cellular phone charging via USB port, which is governed by multiple standards such as USB1.1/2.0/3.0, OTG2.0, BC1.1, Battery charging safety standards such as PSE and IEEE1725, wireless charging, etc. This is an excellent opportunity to work on the forefront of new technologies with the company armed with the tools and system knowledge and to work on power products that will be used in millions of well-known handheld products. Responsibilities: • Work with PMU System Architect, Design, and DVT teams to prepare PMU datasheets, application notes, training materials and conduct customer and regional AE teams training • Work with cellular phone platform design team and regional AE teams worldwide to support customers design in and customer cell phone bring up and optimization • Provide system / bench test to support QA team in failure and root cause analysis of customer products • Provide feedback for new product definitions based on experience gained from supporting/ interfacing with customers. Qualifications: • Education: BSEE with minimum of 8 years of experience, MSEE with minimum of 6 years of experience, or PhD EE and minimum of 3 years of experience. • Strong English verbal and written communication skill.
