Job Description Broadcom provides industry-leading A-GPS technology to the mobile wireless industry. Our semiconductor solutions bring IndoorGPS® technology to the full spectrum of mobile wireless devices, including handsets, smartphones, PDAs and other wireless devices. Our A-GPS network infrastructure products and data services power the global location services of our mobile operator customers.

As part of the GPS systems and applications team, this experienced system or software engineer will be responsible for accelerating the adoption and integration of GPS and related connectivity semiconductor products. Reporting into the Business Unit Apps Engineer Manager and working with various cross-functional teams, this individual will have as their main responsibility all aspects of the technical support for handset manufacturers and silicon platform providers integrating the Broadcom A-GPS chipset and software library into their early prototypes and commercial products.

Duties and Responsiblities include:
• Design, develop and test/debug embedded software applications and device drivers in support of the core host-based GPS library
• Provide in-depth support in resolving complex software, hardware, and systems issues (eg. board bring-up, performance testing) interfacing directly with customers
• Give advice in wireless communication standards related to A-GPS as well as technical support during Interoperability Tests with network equipment vendors or even live cellular networks
• Review and write system application notes, product specifications, and test reports according to internal and customer requirements
• Work within applications engineering, with other business units and customers to generate and promote sample applications, system level documentation and evaluation/analysis tools
• Work with R&amp;D feeding back customer requirements, market information and issues that can enhance our products
Job Requirements • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 5-10 years of applicable experience
• Experience with at least one of Linux/Android
• Additional knowledge of Nucleus, SHP, Windows Embedded CE/Windows Mobile, Apoxi, EMP are a plus
• Proven recent skills in (embedded) software programming in (C/)C++ (Java and/or C# are a plus)
• Solid understanding (and demonstrated application) of object-oriented design and analysis principles
• Ability to operate lab test equipment and basic knowledge of digital hardware and radio frequency concepts
• Previous experience with GPS receivers and/or protocols used with Assisted GPS are a plus
• Basic comprehension of hardware schematics/layouts
• Understanding of wireless systems in general (Bluetooth, mobile telephony)
• Self-reliant, self-motivated, able to work multiple tasks under pressure and to tight timescales.
• Ability to successfully interact with customers, good presentation skills and willingness to travel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Job Description • Forecast Analysis
–Analyze Customer Forecast in a consistent format (increases, decreases, changes within lead time, inventory build-up, trends)
–Review with Sales and then Marketing, regularly (minimum once per month)
–Analyze backlog as compared to forecast: Check for insufficient backlog within lead time, correct part numbers and prices, understand customers true needs and how they impact Broadcom
–Analyze how accurate the customer forecast is, and work with them to improve if needed
• GAP Analysis
–Understand (large) gaps between Marketing DA &amp; Sales (or customer) forecasts; address as needed
• NPI / PCN / EOL
–Be aware of proto/production schedules

Job Description Embedded Software Application Engineer "We are looking for energetic, mobile professional SW engineers to work in the exciting 802.11 wireless LAN technology segment. You'll be able to work directly with customers in integrating embedded WLAN into their systems and be able to see the product on the store shelves, knowing that you were integral in making it happen! The Broadcom WLAN Software Group has written code enabling WLAN functionality in video game consoles like Nintendo Wii; consumer devices like the Apple AirPort base station and routers from companies such as Linksys, Netgear, Buffalo; WiFi phones from vendors such as Linksys and Dlink; and laptops and desktops from companies such as Apple, Dell, HP and others." The Embedded Software Applications Engineer (AE) is responsible for a variety of tasks in support of bring customers of our embedded-targeted chipsets to production. These includes: * Custom code development * Driver and/or application software porting * Problem replication, troubleshooting and debugging * Feature and application note documentation. The AE will have to communication directly with customers to replicate and debug customer issues as well as with internal engineering resources to find solutions to obstacles to customer product shipment.
