Job Description Broadcom offers a family of WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple-Access), EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) products for use in cellular phones, cellular modem cards and wireless PDAs. As wireless devices including handsets, data-cards and smart-phones, emerge as the dominant platform for mobile media convergence they are driving the need for higher data rates. Broadcom is developing solutions supporting the next generation of high-speed mobile technologies with a product roadmap that includes base-band processors for WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple-Access), HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) and HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access), as well as a portfolio of mobile multimedia co-processors. Broadcom will help to build a new generation of mobile devices supporting new applications such as video telephony and messaging, graphics-rich sports and news clips, interactive gaming, location-based services and improved web browsing.

In this position you will:

- Lead other experienced engineers to develop, integrate and optimize GSM/GPRS/EGPRS part of the protocol stack within Broadcom’s multi-mode cellular baseband platform.
- Responsible for delivering mature and high performing 2G access stratum protocol stack.
- Develop and support 2G and WCDMA, TD-SCDMA as well as LTE inter-rat functionalities.
- Develop new 3GPP functionality and feature upgrades.
- Support commercialization of new generation of Broadcom multi-mode cellular baseband chipset.
-  Plan project schedule; define requirement, work items and deliverables; and more importantly execute the plan according to the schedule.
Job Requirements Typically requires a BS degree and 15 years of experience or an MS degree and 12 years of experience or a PhD and 9 years of experience
- Solid hands-on development experience in cellular modem protocol stack (L2/L3) development, particularly in GSM/GPRS/EGPRS
- Knowledge of WCDMA, HSDPA/HSUPA, and/or LTE is a plus.
- Proficient in 3GPP standards, conformance tests, and test equipment
- Good understanding of embedded system, real-time OS, development and debugging tools

In this position you will:
--Participate in the continuous development and improvement of cellular protocol stack, including implementing new
relevant 3GPP features/CRs as well as customer specific requirements.
--Actively participate in modem performance enhancements, memory and MIPS optimization.
--Participate in system integration, verification, debugging and test of new generation of mobile devices based on GSM,
GPRS, EGPRS, UMTS, LTE standards.
--Support interoperability (IOT) and live network testing. It will require performing analysis of the problem scenarios
and generating efficient solutions. In addition, it may also require travel to the IOT lab or location of live network testing.
--Participate in conformance testing of mobile platform using in-house test equipment and at official test houses.
Job Requirements - Typically requires a BS degree and 6+ years of experience or an MS degree and 3+
years of experience or a new grad PhD
- Strong understanding of WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA is essential, and HSPA+ is a plus.
- Knowledge of ARM microprocessor and RTOS is a plus. Nucleus experience preferred.
