Job Description You are a highly experienced, motivated, self-starter who requires little guidance. You will be
responsible for all documentation-related activities as an individual contributor. You must demonstrate excellent

understanding of the English language to generate and maintain clear and concise documentation.

You must have superior personal and organizational skills to lead, manage, and drive projects from
start to finish. Your organization skills will be used daily as you collect, track and filter
information from many sources.

You have been involved in supporting a complex integrated device from a hardware and system perspective. You will be

supporting an entire device which consists of dozens of individual processing blocks and interfaces.

You will be the primary interface on device issues for customers, FAEs, ASIC and SW Engineering, Product Engineering,

and Marketing. You will be working with others in a team and also individually. When high profile issues arise, you

may be assigned to lead a diverse group to resolve those issues.

The role of ASIC Applications Engineer is challenging and diverse. The position encompasses, but is not limited to,

typical applications engineer and systems engineering responsibilities.

* (Typical Applications Engineer responsibilities)
- Generating and maintaining device documentation such as datasheets, app notes, programming guides,
errata, and training material
- Provide support for customers, FAEs, and HW/platform and SW engineering, ASIC engineering
- Coordinating various internal groups to support customers and FAEs
- Working with marketing to generate specific customer documentation
- Experience with board-level design and debug, familiar with signal-integrity techniques for
high-speed design
- Experience with debugging device and board issues using standard test instrumentation such as
oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Experience with modern VLSI digital design with Verilog HDL -- can read and understand Verilog
- Experience with low-level (firmware, device driver) software -- can read and understand C/C++
code, must be able to write code when necessary
- Assist product engineering with device characterization

* (Typical Systems Engineering responsibilities)
- Experienced with documenting highly-integrated complex devices including integrated analog blocks
- Tasked to understand and fully document modules which have little to no existing documentation
- Writing detailed device functional specifications for engineering and customers from a system-level
and device-level perspective
- Working with ASIC engineering, SW engineering, platform, and customer teams to resolve design and
documentation-related issues

* Prior experience with cell-phone design with baseband devices is highly desired.

* Prior experience with GSM/GPRS/EDGE, W-CDMA, 2G, 3GPP, HSPA is highly desired.

* In-depth knowledge and prior experience with the following interfaces and technologies is desired,
but not necessary. You will become familiar with these and other while on the job.

Job Requirements Typically requires a BS degree and 12 years of experience or an MS degree and 9 years of experience or a PhD and 6 years of experience

Must have prior experience with generating and maintaining core ASIC documentation on highly integrated devices:

1) Datasheet -- high-level overview, electricals, thermals, and mechanical for HW design
2) Programmer's Guide -- functional description and use of subsystems and functional blocks at a device-driver level
3) Programmer's Reference -- register database for Programmer's Guide

Must have front-end digital design (FPGA or ASIC) experience using verilog, can read and understand code

HW (schematic capture and layout) and SW (C, C++) design experience is highly valued.
